My name is Madeline Birk, and I am a private violin and viola teacher based in Layton, Utah. Originally from Long Island, New York, I discovered my passion for music education through my own experiences as a student and performer. I began learning the violin at age 9 and I have been teaching violin and viola privately since 2016.

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania, where I studied violin with Dr. Jennifer Sacher-Wiley from 2016–2020 and completed my student teaching under both Anna and Matt Radspinner in the Williamsport Area School District. After graduating in 2020, I moved to North Carolina to serve as the orchestra director at Pinecrest High School. During my time with the program, my students regularly participated in All-County, Solo & Ensemble, and Eastern Regional Orchestra, earning high ratings and prestigious chair placements. Under my direction, the advanced orchestra also competed at several state and national competitions, frequently earning Superior ratings.

Outside of the teaching space, I remain active as a performer with experience in symphony settings, chamber music, and solo features.

In July 2024, my husband and I relocated to Utah, where I have had the pleasure of growing this violin and viola studio. In addition to my studio, I stay active in the school district helping local orchestra teachers as a substitute, coach, festival judge, etc. When I’m not teaching or playing music, you can usually find me with our two fur babies, HoneyBun and Chili, hiking, visiting farmers markets, or preparing for our next camping adventure.
